Press Release:
It is with great sadness that The City of Salmon announces the passing of K-9 (Canine) Officer Beaux
K-9 Officer Beaux loyally served the City of Salmon and Lemhi County for 13 years with his handler, Officer James Jensen. Beaux retired last year and had spent his time enjoying a well-deserved retirement at home with his lifetime handler and family.
We at the City of Salmon and the Salmon Police department view our K-9’s not as a tool to use but as a part of the team and as family. Beaux was a devoted trusted partner to Officer Jensen, his devotion and loyalty stretched to every aspect of the job. He had the backs of his team and he served to protect the citizens of Salmon. Beaux was loved by all of our officers and he was known for his sneaky and sassy personality. He would always keep our officers company during a shift, with the strict understanding that head pets must be given.
The importance of having K-9 officers is not only to benefit the safety of our homes, families and livelihoods; it also enables a closer connection and dialog between you, our community and our police officers. It also forms an unbreakable bond within our police department and it allows our officers to go into very dangerous situations with a trusted and committed sidekick.
We honor K-9 Beaux, as a loyal serving officer and we extend our deepest condolences to Officer Jensen and his family.
Thank you,
Todd Nelson – Mayor
Denzil McKenzie – City Clerk
